SKYWAY FIELD SERVICES

Field Mapping

Comprehensive field mapping services, deploying skilled survey teams and advanced geospatial tools to capture accurate terrain, infrastructure, and environmental features with meticulous detail. At Skyway Field Services, we don’t just survey — we tailor our approach to the unique conditions and objectives of each site. Whether you’re working in rugged topography, dense vegetation, or developed urban settings, our field teams use a combination of high-precision GNSS/RTK instruments, drone photogrammetry, total stations, and laser scanning to capture points, lines, polygons, and elevation data with very high fidelity. This foundation ensures every contour, structure, watercourse, and landform is recorded with spatial integrity.

Our services extend across many project types: utility corridor mapping (e.g., pipelines, cables, drainage), site layout and infrastructure design, environmental baseline studies, wetland delineation, topographic and bathymetric surveys, road and bridge mapping, landslide hazard zones, and more. For infrastructure and utility clients, mapping of assets like poles, vaults, manholes, valves, and conduits allows for precise placement, long-term maintenance planning, and regulatory compliance. In environmental and exploration settings, we map habitat boundaries, vegetation communities, floodplains, stream networks, geological outcrops, soil types, and erosional features to support assessment, permitting, restoration, or resource estimation.

A key advantage of Skyway’s field mapping is the integration of real-time or near-real-time data feedback. We employ mobile mapping platforms and field collection apps with offline capability so data can be validated in the field, corrections made immediately, and missing features identified on the spot. This reduces costly re‐visits or gaps in data. Where applicable, aerial platforms (drones or UAVs) are used to provide high-resolution aerial imagery and orthomosaics which, when combined with ground control points and LiDAR scans, deliver digital elevation models, contour maps, slope/aspect analyses, and detailed surface models.

We also prioritize quality assurance and consistency. All data collected goes through rigorous post‐processing: aligning datasets, removing noise or outliers, calibrating elevation and positional measurements, ensuring proper coordinate systems, and checking accuracy to agreed tolerances. This QA/QC process ensures that clients receive deliverables that are both reliable and compatible with their existing GIS, CAD or engineering systems. Whether it’s delivering raw point clouds, elevation grids, shapefiles, CAD drawings, or web map services, we ensure standardization and interoperability.

Communication and visualization are central to our mapping work. Beyond the raw spatial data, we provide annotated maps, interactive map products, 3D surface visualizations, cross-sections, and profiles so that decision makers can clearly see terrain challenges, infrastructure alignments, potential obstructions, or environmental constraints. These visual tools support design reviews, stakeholder meetings, environmental permitting, and community outreach — helping to translate technical data into actionable insight.

Finally, Skyway Field Services supports clients from project inception through to implementation. We assist with project planning (scoping, defining data needs, selecting instrumentation and access points), field logistics (access, safety, permits), as well as ongoing updates and maintenance of mapping assets. As projects evolve—roads shift, infrastructure gets added, environmental conditions change—our field mapping services ensure that spatial information stays current, enabling smarter planning, risk reduction, and cost savings over the life of a project.
